This virtual opening will include a first look at the exhibition Weaving History into Art: The Enduring Legacy of Shan Goshorn with Curator of History Mark Dolph and Jack and Maxine Zarrow Curator for Indigenous Art and Culture Chelsea Herr. The event will feature appearances by the four contemporary artists whose work is presented in the exhibition, Anita Fields, Holly Wilson, Carole Emarthle-Douglas, Lisa Rutherford. We will conclude the evening with a reading by United States Poet Laureate Joy Harjo!
Native Alliance Against Violence
Proceeds from this opening, free for members, $15 for not-yet members will be donated in Shan’s memory to Native Alliance Against Violence. Founded in 2009, the Native Alliance Against Violence (NAAV), is a nonprofit organization operating as Oklahoma’s only tribal domestic violence and sexual assault coalition. NAAV serves Oklahoma tribes by providing culturally appropriate technical assistance, training, and support to eliminate domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence.
